Bedworth United (1) 1
[DR MARTENS MIDLAND DIVISION]

Heartbroken Bedworth United slipped to their fifth defeat of the season, but it was the manner of it which upset their players.

They led at the interval thanks to Robbie Beard's goal, but once again they were guilty of defensive lapses and lost the game to a disappointing last minute goal.

Bedworth were on top for most of the first half and had a great start with an 11th minute goal by Beard. He was released into space by Paul Corden's pinpoint pass and finished with a sharp shot from just inside the penalty area.

Bedworth then enjoyed a good spell and almost scored again, but Beard was robbed as he was lining up his shot.

The visitors were full value for their interval lead and they began the second half in bright fashion until a defensive slip let in Redditch for an equaliser.

Kerry Gidding's header was parried on to the crossbar by Bedworth's goalkeeper Rob Wood and the ball came back for Toby Hall to crash it home.

Wood appeared to be almost invincible as Redditch piled on the pressure. He saved brilliantly from a close range effort by Simon Marsh, while at the other end his opposite number made a full stretch save to deny John Halford.

In the final minutes Wood pulled out a brilliant save to keep out Ross Knight's penalty kick, but was helpless to intervene when his defence let in Kenny Fergie to score Redditch's winner in the dying moments.
