VS Rugby v Stafford - Preview
[DR MARTENS LEAGUE MIDLAND DIVISION]

VS Rugby entertain Stafford Rangers looking to get back to winning ways after four straight defeats.

And Martin Sockett’s hopes of fielding a settled side have taken another blow. He is able to welcome back midfielder Richard Hamer and striker Ashley Warner from holiday and Simon Mason who had been missing through work commitments.

That’s the good news. The downside is that full back Phil Murphy has damaged ankle ligaments and is certain to miss the trip while Rugby School master Chris Evans is working.

"I suppose it means we’re one up," said Sockett. "We have had four defeats now but I really don’t think that reflects the way we have been playing.

"We went down against Evesham 3-1 on Saturday but could easily have won the match – we had three efforts cleared off the line.

"I had hoped to have a settled side by now but that has just not been possible. After Saturday we play Shepshed away from home and then entertain Stamford and by that stage I hope to have almost everyone available and then I think we will start to earn the rewards that our play deserves."
