[30 OCT 98] RUGBY LIONS PRESS RELEASE
Lions Sign New Player

The Rugby Lions today announced a new signing, Chris Tarbuck from London Scottish.

Chris, aged 29 is engaged to Lisa and has recently become the proud father of daughter Megan, born 2 months ago.

He started his career at Southend Rugby Club where he progressed to the Saracens and then onto Leicester Tigers, from there he moved to London Scottish. He has captained England students and England A and was captain of the Midlands Division for two years. Playing under the number 8 shirt in the back row, this is an important signing for the Lions.

Lions Director of Coaching, Geoff Davies was asked about the signing and said

"We are delighted with the new signing and that we have been able to attract an experienced player of Chris’ ability to the home of Rugby. It indicates the ambition within the club to take us forward." When further asked about more players, Geoff replied "We are always on the look out to strengthen our squad."

Notes

Chris Tarbuck will make his debut for the Lions against the team headed up by Tony Russ, Director of Coaching for Waterloo, this Saturday. Tony took Chris from the Saracens to the Tigers.
