Calendars featuring Lady Godiva and stunning shots of Coventry are being sold all over the world to CWN readers after a huge surge of interest.

Ex-pats from New Zealand, Australia and America have contacted the city’s Tourist Information Centre with requests for the calendar after a story about it was posted on CWN shortly before Christmas.

International sales have previously been restricted to friends and relatives buying the calendars in Coventry to post abroad.

It’s the first time that international orders have come in via the internet, and promises to be a good indication of how an on-line shop being developed by CWN for Coventry and Warwickshire Promotions will work.

Hilary Hopker, who produces the calendar, said:

“They’ve been selling well all over the world – and all of this is down to the power of the internet.

“Ex-pats have been very keen to get hold of them – demanding that they be sent out immediately.

“The Tourist Information Centre were very excited as it’s the first time that they’ve had any internet sales.

“It’s not too late to order a copy – there are a few left.”

CWN is currently developing a tourism website for Coventry and Warwickshire Promotions, which will include an on-line shop.

Mrs Hopker added:

“It’s a good indication that on-line sales will work very well. We do the calendar to raise the profile of the city, and this obviously helps spread the message across the world.”
