Coventry will be getting
a tough taste of the orient this Saturday when the Skydome Arena
                welcomes wrestler Shinjiro Ohtani.
                Ohtani, a Japanese
wrestling champion will join The Fallen Angel, The AllKnighters,
LX Blade and Coventry's Darren Walsh among others on the bill
for the UCW X-Plosion event at Coventry's Skydome Arena.
                The Skydome fought off
national competition from Birmingham and several other major
cities to stage the massive entertainment event, which could
inject over £500,000 into the city's economy.
                Universal Championship
Wrestling is the British alternative to America's WWF and WCW
wrestling organisations and they have struck a deal with the
Skydome that could bring championship class wrestling to the
                city once a month.
                The event has attracted
a large number of names from the wrestling scene and 28-year-old
Ohtani is the latest to join the bill.
                He said:

                  "It is a great
honour for me to wrestle with such famous wrestlers in the
                  Skydome Arena.
                  "It will be a
fantastic show and the atmosphere is going to be
                  electric."

                Skydome's Managing
Director Michael Petrouis is delighted that another famous
wrestling name has joined the bill, and is certain that the UCW
event will be a great success.
                Skydome's success with a
variety of sporting events, such as basketball, ice hockey and
boxing have put the arena on the map as a multi-event arena and
Petrouis is looking forward to wrestling becoming a regular
                feature in the arena's calendar.
                Petrouis said:

                  "Wrestling is a
massive spectator sport and the American shows attract
television audiences which come close to those for Premiership
                  football.  This is
very good news indeed both for Coventry and for the
                  arena."

                Tickets
for the wrestling extravaganza are available at the arena box
                office on 08700 119 119, priced £10, £15 and £20.
