Warwickshire County Council
has a wide range of duties and responsibilities

These include:

Education – in schools, pre–school, special education and lifelong learning

Social services – care for older people, children and people with special needs

Planning – strategic planning for the type and scale of development in the County

Transport – roads, safety, traffic management and public transport co–ordination

Economic Strategy – supporting businesses and investment in the local economy

Fire and Rescue – response to fire emergencies and fire safety

Libraries and Heritage – libraries, museums and public records

Trading Standards – consumer advice and protection

 
Consequently it is a big organisation. Our annual turnover is £315 million, of which some 34% comes from the Council Tax and 32% from The Business Rate. We employ around 18,000 staff who together are responsible for a huge work programme.
