One Dead, One Critical After A46 Smash

A woman driver was killed and a man left critical in hospital after a head-on smash on the A46 in south Warwickshire yesterday morning.

A part of the Stratford to Alcester section was closed from about 9am to lunchtime after the two-car crash at Haselor.

The two drivers were airlifted to Selly Oak Hospital in Birmingham, both with multiple injuries.

Phyllis Porter, aged 61, from Droitwich, Worcestershire, died of her injuries. She had been travelling towards Stratford.

The other driver, Thomas Dawson, aged 38, from Norwich was first described as critical, but his condition was later put as ‘serious but stable’. He had been travelling towards Alcester.
