Protesting Truckers Make M6 Traffic Crawl
                Police have
warned motorists in a hurry to avoid the M6 through Warwickshire
where protesting drivers have almost brought the
                road to a halt.
                Lorry drivers
are crawling along two lanes of the motorway through the county.
Traffic heading north towards Birmingham is facing massive
delays, and southbound is not travelling much faster than 20mph.
                As at 3pm,
traffic speeds are between 5mph and 10mph along the stretch from
the M1 past junction one at Rugby through Coventry, towards
junction four at Coleshill by the NEC.
                Warwickshire
                police said:

                  “We believe
the truck drivers are travelling very slowly on two lanes of
the M6. We are advising motorists to use other routes
                  because there is disruption.”

                And there have
still only been a handful of lorries leaving the Kingsbury oil
depot, despite reports that fuel was on its way to petrol
                stations.
                It is thought
that 25 HGVs have left the site in the last three days, most
heading for use by the emergency services.
                Five lorries
left today heading for petrol stations, with one going to Rugby
                and another to Leicester.
                Police have
said about 400 would have to leave each day to keep up with
                demand.
