Two Commonwealth Golds For Local Athletes

Marlon Devonish completed the medal haul for Warwickshire competitors at the Commonwealth Games when he took gold in the 4x100m relay.

The Coventry Godiva sprinter, a former European 200m champion, helped the team to a finishing time of 38.20seconds – a Games’ record.

Jo Wise was the other golden athlete – the injury-played long jumper took gold earlier in the week.

City of Coventry teenage swimmer Adam Whitehead took bronze in the 200m breast stroke, while Finham badminton player Mark Constable took a bronze in the team event.

Warwickshire badminton player Julia Mann, originally from Solihull but now living on the South Coast, won a bronze in the individual and team events.
