Arts Centre Head Moves On To Festival

The director of Warwick Arts Centre is to bid the complex farewell after taking a position as the head of one of the most prestigious festivals in the country.

Stella Hall will leave the post after three years to become director of the Belfast festival.

The Belfast Festival, part of Queen's University, has an excellent reputation for presenting the best of Irish, UK and international culture each November.

Stella said:

"I look forward with great anticipation to this extremely exciting and challenging new role.

“There are clear parallels between Queen's and Warwick in the active role each university plays in the promotion of the arts.

"I am particularly happy to be travelling across the water at this remarkable time in Northern Ireland's history.

“Here is a moment and a country which has fully embraced the role of culture in its everyday life and I hope to play my part alongside politicians, educators, planners and colleagues in the arts in making Belfast and Northern Ireland a marvellous place to live and a "must visit" destination.

"I have had a wonderful three years at Warwick Arts Centre and will miss my family here and the many friends made in the West Midlands.

“I leave behind an excellent team, a beautiful building and audiences who have demanded, and enjoyed, the best programme we can offer.

“But I hope that I will see some familiar faces this Autumn in Belfast - after all it is only fifty minutes from Birmingham Airport!"
