DEVELOPMENT PLAN 1996-2011
Statement of Decisions and List of Modifications
This document sets out the decisions
made by Coventry City Council in response to the Report of Mr. David
Baldock, the lead Inspector for the Public Local Inquiry into
objections to proposals for the Coventry Development Plan, placed on
deposit in November 1998 and intended to replace the City of Coventry
Unitary Development Plan 1993. It includes decisions to accept
recommendations to make modifications to the proposed Coventry
Development Plan as well as decisions not to make modifications in the
manner recommended by him. In addition, this document sets out
intentions to make certain modifications for reasons independent of
the Report. It therefore serves as:
- the statement of decisions reached
by the City Council in light of the Report and the recommendations
contained in it as required by Regulation 27(1)(a) of the Town and
Country Planning (Development Plan) (England) Regulations 1999
- the list of those recommendations
contained in the Report to make modifications in a specified
manner which the City Council does not intend to accept as
required by Regulation 27(4)(a) of the 1999 Regulations
- the list of the modifications which
the City Council intend to make to the proposed Coventry
Development Plan (other than those which they are satisfied will
not materially affect the content of the Plan) as required by
Regulation 29(1)(a) of the 1999 Regulations.
Reasons for decisions reached by the
City Council which do not follow a recommendation contained in the
Report and for the modifications which they intend to make are
contained in Appendix A to this document. The full verbal text of the
proposed Coventry Development Plan as intended to be modified is
contained in Appendix B and intended modifications to its Proposals
Map and City Centre Inset Map are illustrated in Appendix C. This
document should therefore be read together with those Appendices.
Appendix D details the
City Council's response to paragraphs 6.1.41, 6.3.16, 6.4.8 and
11.17.10 of the Inspector's Report. , which is to propose Alterations
to the Plan (affecting the Shopping and City Centre Chapters) after
its adoption rather than to propose Modifications before adoption.
Appendix D details the possible form of those Alterations in order to
provide full information. However, these prospective Alterations are
not Modifications to which the 1999 Regulations now apply.
