Gosford Green Re-enactment

Gosford Green is being transformed back in time for a re-enactment of a famous duel that took place 600 years ago in Coventry and that influenced the course of English history.

The event is taking place all afternoon on Sunday 27 September on Gosford Green near the Sky Blues Highfield Road football ground.

The local residents association have organised the celebration of the duel betwen two pretenders to the crown of King Richard II. The two dukes who did battle at the time, Thomas Mowbray and Henry Bollingbroke, were banished from the Kingdom but that was not enough to prevent the return of one of them to begin the War of the Roses.

The Green will see the Lion Rampant Medieval Society recreating the Kings Encampment. There will also be dancing, juggling, music, squire training and hand to hand combat.
