VS Rugby v Solihull - Preview
[DR MARTENS LEAGUE MIDLAND DIVISION]

VS Rugby manager Martin Sockett has been busy in the transfer market this week.

He has brought Cirencester keeper Roland Barnes into the club as cover for Ian Ladkin, who was taken ill on the way to the game at Redditch.

Defender Richard Hamer had to play in goal as cover but with No 2 keeper Mark Ullah out with an ankle ligament injury, Sockett decided he needed a regular keeper on the books.

He said:

"Roland played a few games for Racing Warwick last season and is a local lad –he lives in Warwick and works in Leamington.

"Ian had been suffering from the flu all week and was taken ill on the coach. I have spoken to him this week and he still sounds quite bad even though he is now on his way back to fitness.

"I have also put in seven days notice on a Hinckley United player. I don’t want to name him at the moment but he can play up front or in midfield. Matty Owen and Ian Scott have been out with injury so I have needed to strengthen."

Solihull Borough are managed by former Sky Blues player Paul Dyson and play at Redditch United’s ground – so it will be a swift return to the ground they lost on last weekend.

Sockett added:

"The reason we lost was quite simple – they took their chances and we didn’t. That is something we have to put right."
