VS began brightly against the promotion chasers, but they saw their lead slip away despite creating several good scoring chances. Brian Agar opened the scoring for Rugby with a spectacular overhead kick in the 10th minute and he was denied a second by a brilliant save from goalkeeper Andy Fisher.   MORE

A last minute winner ended Rugby’s run of six straight defeats. The scorer was the substitute Danny Finlay. VS defender Danny Green thumped a long kick upfield, Paul John won the aerial challenge and the ball fell to Finley who headed into the net.  MORE

Vs had no complaints after a comprehensive defeat at the hands of the Northamptonshire side. They were 2-0 behind at the interval through goals from Trevor Burrows and Kevin Casson. MORE

This was never going to be VS Rugby’s day. Keeper Ian Ladkin was taken ill on the way to the game and centre-half Richard Hamer had to go in goal. The defender did keep out a 30-yard strike from forward Rob Smith in the 17th minutes and managed to maintain a clean sheet until half time. MATCH SUMMARY

VS Rugby are in FA Trophy action at Redditch – hoping to repeat an earlier success. Martin Sockett’s men saw off the Worcestershire side earlier in the season when Lee Lavery scored twice but Redditch have done well since and are currently sixth in the league. MORE

Clevedon took a 10th minute lead but VS gave as good as they got in the first half only to fold after the interval. This win took Clevedon to the top of the table. The first half goal was from the penalty spot by Tony Cook after VS had brought him down in the penalty area, but Rugby could have been in front before the change round. MATCH SUMMARY

VS Rugby are battling against a major injury crisis as they prepare for the long trip to Clevedon. Manager Martin Sockett has seven players under intensive treatment and after a 4-1 defeat to Bedworth in the Birmingham Senior Cup, it has not been a good week for Sockett’s side. MORE
