A Coventry nightclub will be
branching out on a £500,000 expansion after it received permission to
          add a heated beer garden.
          The all-weather area will be
built at The Venue in Lower Holyhead Road in Spon End.
          Councillors have recently
given permission for an extension to go ahead despite fears from
neighbours that it would alter the character of historic Spon Street.
          Venue manager Stephen Beck
said the new facilities and the face-lift would be one of the most
          exciting developments in the area.
          He said:

            “We want to continue in
attracting a wide range of customers to our bars and beer garden.
            “We have already gained
the reputation of being the friendliest bar in ton. It will be the
place where people want to be seen.”

          Work on the extension, which
will also include a bar-restaurant, is to start shortly.
          Mr Beck added:

            “We will shortly make our
beer-garden into an all-weather heated area where people can enjoy
the open air without fear of the English climate.”

Last year The Venue opened as
a jazz bar, but was forced to change to a more popular playlist as
          numbers dwindled.
