Over 20,000 people packed Coventry city centre to watch the spectacular millennium eve sky walk by Ramon Kelvink.

The daring six minute 80m walk between the spires of Holy Trinity church and the old cathedral was to be beamed across the nation on the BBC.

Unfortunately due to a technical error the preceding lottery draw overran the scheduled four minute Coventry slot before the programme moved on to the Queen at the Millennium Dome.

The film of the walk will now be shown on BBC Midlands Today at 4.55pm today.

Other than the BBC slip up the only other technical hitch seemed to be a short break in DJ Chris Brooks' session around 11pm.

Families, people young and old joined in the fun with twelve hours of entertainment from the Precinct bandstand and from under the canopy in Broadgate.

A large number of Coventrians from around the world logged in to watch the celebrations on the CWN Webcam.
