EVENT Fig08 - THE FIRST NATIONAL GATHERING FOR THE NISSAN FIGARO
DATE Sunday 18 May 2008
This event is being organised by enthusiastic Figaro owners using a dedicated website opened in November. The event has gathered such momentum that now over 100 Figaro’s are lined up to attend plus other cars from the Nissan Retro Pike series. It should be a fun day out, with some banter about these great motors, a Figaro quiz, Car of the Day prize, charity raffle and other Figaro related competitions organised by members of the Figaro Internet Forum.
The Figaro was announced on Valentines Day 1991 in four pastel colours. Advance orders were so high that the planned 5000 cars had to be increased to 20,000 and a lottery was devised to share these out.
A thriving import and restoration scene has sprung up in the UK over the last 3 years. It is being bought by individuals impressed by its looks, rarity and individuality who would otherwise probably not have bought a classic including a number of celebrities. The Figaro appears on national TV being driven by Andrew Marr and is the vehicle of choice for the BBC Sarah Jane Adventures series.
VENUE Heritage Motor Centre, Gaydon
TICKETS Free entry to the event. Normal admission prices apply to Museum entry.
